‘Now this glass shall die and bring good fortune to the house with its shards,’ cried master carpenter Thomas Leiter from the roof truss and smashed the glass to the ground. ‘Despite a few minor delays, the mighty block now stands here.’ But it's not quite that mighty: SWG's new apartment building opposite the church comprises 1,100 square metres of living space, spread over 14 apartments of various sizes. There will be three one-bedroom, four two-bedroom, one three-bedroom and six four-bedroom apartments. They are expected to be ready for occupancy in early 2026. An underground car park offers eleven parking spaces, plus six above-ground parking spaces. A solar-assisted heat pump provides hot water and heating. The building meets the contemporary EFH 55 energy standard. The plans were drawn up by the Häfler architectural firm Kienzle, Vögele, Blasberg.
Negotiations on many levels
‘This topping-out ceremony is a sign that even in difficult situations, it is possible to achieve something together,’ said von Kolzenberg. It is also the result of negotiations on many levels, in which many interests were skilfully balanced. The SWG boss praised the architects' design, with its good orientation and modern appearance, as well as the associated quality of living. ‘Many people work hand in hand, doing hard physical labour and applying their learned craftsmanship,’ said von Kolzenberg, thanking everyone involved.
